 You Asked - Passion

You Asked:

What is passion?

Our Thoughts:

Passion is the spark in your imagination that ignites the excitement in your heart, and lights the fire in your belly that propels you forward over the roughest, most unforgiving of terrain.

In the 1976 movie classic, Rocky, his trainer Mickey told Rocky that if he wanted to beat Apollo Creed and win the World Heavyweight Championship, “You're gonna eat lightnin' and you're gonna crap thunder!”

Mickey was talking about having a desire to succeed so strong that Rocky would be willing to continue training when every muscle fiber screamed in protest and every breath seared hot pain. He was referring to having a conviction he would win so strong that Rocky could tune out the naysayers. He was talking about a craving for the win so strong that not taking action was more painful than any beating Rocky got in the ring.

This inner fire, this inner passion, is what makes the difference between dreams remaining but gossamer in the dark recesses of our imaginations, or in them marching out into sunlight and becoming reality. It’s also what keeps us going when the path between imagination and the real world seems too hard. I believe that passion is one of the things that all winners have in common, but without, it is almost impossible to persevere long enough to succeed.

Outside Opinion:

Making sure our goals are properly aligned with our passions only makes sense. If you have the wish to move up the corporate ladder, start your own business, or just about any other worthwhile endeavor you're going to make things a lot easier on yourself if you're working on things that get you personally excited and make you feel alive when you're working on them (i.e. following your passions).
