If you live in North America, you're likely to often hear "Be Careful" as a standard way of saying "goodbye."

I don't wish to attack the well-meaning fathers, mothers, spouses, and loved ones who wish the best for all of us when they remind us to take care of ourselves - I'm not suggesting you should go out and be hit by an automobile.

I'd just like to look at how the whole idea of "being careful" affects our lives.

I don't know whether you noticed it or not, but life is inherently a dangerous business....
